Thousands of people from over eight (8) opposition political parties have flooded the Northern Regional capital, Tamale demonstrating over the Ghana EC’s decision to create a new voter register ahead of the 2020 elections.
Led by the main opposition party, the NDC is arguing that there’s nothing wrong with the current register and even if there is any fault, an update could be done rather than creating an entirely new voter register.

Speaking ahead of ahead of today’s demonstration in Tamale Mr. Sammy Gyamfi said the NDC is poised and determined to do everything against the new register because it is a calculated attempt by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the EC to rig the 2020 elections.

Mr Gyamfi making these remarks on Tamale based radio Amana, he disclosed that it was not only the NDC that was in Tamale for the demonstration but other political parties, including the People’s National Convention (PNC) as well as like-minded Ghanaians.

“We are here not only as the National Democratic Congress, but the PNC is here and all the other political parties are here. More of our leaders will be coming in [today]. We are touching base with various groupings in the city of Tamale. You can see that the enthusiasm is very high. People understand why we must kick against this register, which is only a calculated attempt to rig the 2020 elections”, Mr Gyamfi stated.

In attendance at the demonstration, includes the National Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo, National Chairman for the PNC Mr. Bernard Monar, NDC general secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia among others.
